a favorite thing

This is one of my most favorite objects, the Virgin of Guadalupe made from sterling, brass, and ebony by the Talleres Monasticos of Mexico. It's 11 inches tall. The Talleres Monasticos was the workshop of the Benedictine Monks of Cuernavaca, known for their modernist liturgical metalwork, much of it made in the 1960s.

I'm one who believes that God is too big for any single religion, but I just love her image, she makes me feel wide open and peaceful.
