We had our first Ring a Week challenge to create kinetic rings last week, many participated and I will blog all of those rings tomorrow. Here's my kinetic piece, the two gold balls roll around beneath the quartz cab, one is contained in a silver arc and the other moves around the sterling square post.

10/365 button ring no spike

This ring does nothing. The button depresses, but does nothing. I'm still playing with the design, I wasn't happy with the way the bottom attached to the last one. This one is more stable, but I don't care for the look of the round tabs on the sides. I want the bottom to be removable so that it can be repaired if need be.

I do prefer the scale of this one. I plan to wear it around, and if people ask me what the button is for I will tell them that I made two button rings and one stabs me in the finger, then I will ask them if they want to press the button. I think I'm going to learn a lot about my friends.

Bad Girl Button Ring. This took most of my day! When the copper button is depressed a sharp steel spike pokes the wearer in the finger. It's basically a ball point pen in design, I'm pretty happy with the engineering.

This piece marks the beginning of my exploration of temptation and compulsion in our dangerous world. I soldered copper wires to the inside of the bezel cup and slid them inside of the plug adapter before I epoxied it in, making this a pretty dangerous ring.

I've decided to join Nina Dinoff's Ring A Day challenge to create one ring per day for one year. So far about 100 people are participating, visit the Flickr group to see all of the rings. This is my first ring.
