These are all vintage pieces, the Poseidon charm and scrimshaw buckle seemed appropriate additions to the ring.

151/365 spilled oil
I asked a friend what he thought I could use to simulate oil for this ring and he suggested two-part epoxy. I tinted the epoxy with black enamel and I'm fairly pleased with how it came out. The paint thinned it out a bit, but it does have an oily iridescence.

ReplyDeleteAbsolute winner! What I like most about it, how this beautiful and very much wearable ring is made completely useless by the small patch of "oil spill" , which - if used with care and attention - can give us so much. I am maddened by blind irresponsibility!
ReplyDeleteFANTASTIC.
ReplyDeleteThank you all. Well said, Pal, it was important to the concept that the ring not be wearable. It's so very difficult to sit and helplessly watch this catastrophe unfold, it does help a little to make pieces like this.
ReplyDeleteWhat a cool ring, conceptual art!
