ring stand

I'm not sure how I feel about this stand that I made for my stacking rings. I like how simple it is, but if the idea is to have the rings function as sculpture when not being worn, then perhaps the stand shouldn't so much resemble a commercial ring display.

I don't know, I'm tired. It's made of 24 gauge forged sterling and sort of reminds me of my grandfather's shoe horn.

  2. I love the home made ring stand. Much better than the felt covered ones. It looks very professional and complements your materials.

  3. ok..tomi, I am far from anyone who knows how your pieces should be displayed, but I am attracted to the simplicity and even pragmatic use & reference to anatomy evident in the pedestal. I only wonder if the lap edge that shows in the last two shots, could be diminished by brazing the seam?...does that make sense??

  4. Hello, Christian! That does make sense, thank you for your input. I wanted to close the seam but my two puny butane torches won't heat the metal well enough. Perhaps it's time to pick up a propane plumber's torch. It's interesting that you call the process braising, that is the correct term, and for some reason jeweler's say soldering, which is technically incorrect. Cheers!
