46/365 fake tan

This idea was so much better in my head. I've been wanting to do a fake tan ring for a while. I thought I would use yesterday's ring like a stencil with an airbrush self-tanner, until I actually read the directions on the tanner label. Self-developing? Is that safe? You're only supposed to use it once per day, and I figured I would need several applications, so I gave up on that - I am more important than the work!

I used bare leg tanner, "It's like pantyhose in a can!" It certainly is pantyhose color. I sprayed it on and let it dry, but the letters did not come out, rats.

body paint, rather Hellboyish

It did work better than the red kissable body spray paint that I tried (available at Walgreens for 1/2 price while supplies last). The can came packaged with stencils, but it all ended up an oily mess that would not dry - and you should have seen my sink and bathtub!

45/365 yamitw

My dear friend Jan said something to me tonight that hit me profoundly. She said, "you are more important than the work". Well, ok, she actually said, "you're more important than your work", but that's not how I remembered it when I got into the studio.

I have been working straight-out the past 5 weeks or so, plus I'm in the middle of a veritable metal riot working on a new collection of pieces. I have not been eating my vegetables, getting exercise, or spending enough time with friends.

Truth be told, at hectic times like these I often become confused and think that I AM my work. So I made myself this ring to remind me of Jan's words (through an acronym of a misrepresentation of Jan's words), and to take time out to care for myself when I most need to.

sterling silver, pierced, forged

elements pendant

A big focal point pendant that can be worn alone or in combination with the others, silver spacer beads can be added as well. Recycled sterling silver, etched copper and brass, steel cables.

elements collection

These are not rings, but I am very excited about my growing Elements collection and I had to share. Based on my stacking rings, these pendants can be arranged and rearranged by the wearer, worn separately or together. I am working on additional, more complex pendants, and earrings as well. My friend Sara Westermark suggested the name Elements, since that is what I have been calling the focal pieces. I love it, Sara, thank you!

The pendants are made of recycled sterling silver and feature etched brass and copper, and are strung on steel cable.

44/365 stackers

Today I made four more stackers, circles this time. Three in etched brass and one plain silver. They break up the angularity of the other rings.
